9 to 5: The Musical

The first production featured in the SHOWcase, 9 to 5: The Musical, comes from Lee’s Summit High School, located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, a suburb a few minutes southeast of Kansas City.  On November 9-10 & 16-18 the students of Lee’s Summit High School took the stage to perform the musical based off the hit movie released in 1980.  They played to an average crowd size of 325 patrons a night over the 5 performances.

This production had a unique opportunity to have their choreography set by none other than Jennifer Balagna, one of the dance captains for the original Broadway production.  The students were challenged with Broadway level choreography but loved getting to work with a professional who pushed them to be their best.

Receiving rave reviews the crowds always left laughing having enjoyed a wonderful night. With many fun moments throughout the show, memories throughout the production process, and of course getting to work with an original company member of their show, this is a production these students will be recalling for years!

Loved this production! Great performance by all students involved…And the fact that it was choreographed by an original Broadway cast member is incredible!
